In 2016, Quimser celebrated 50 years of activity. The firm commenced operations in Spain in 1966, under the leadership of Salvador Esquerra Romeu, who began producing chemicals in the heart of the tanning leather area of Igualada town, one of the most traditional, prestigious and productive leather tanning areas in Europe.
In the mid-1970s, Quimser started to build the first of its two warehouses in the industrial area in Pla de la Masia (Òdena). The site, which covers more than 5,000m2, is less than an hour's drive from Barcelona. The family-owned company is currently run by three of the four children of its founder, and is still growing.
