TFL announced that it continues to be the exclusive distributor for resale of Dow’s long-standing brands for tanning and finishing in the leather market worldwide for another three years. The agreement for the Cooperation and Distribution in the Natural Leather Industry comprises the leather finishing brands of ROSILK™, HYDRHOLAC™, OPTI-MATT™, PRIMAL™ and ACRYSOL™, and the wet-end processes brands of LUBRITAN™ and LEUKOTAN™.

TFL has been confirmed by Dow as the right distribution partner for leather market brands since the Lanxess Organic Leather Chemical division acquisition by TFL in June 2021. This new 3-year agreement will continue the successful relationship which started back in 1997 between Bayer AG (before the leather business was spun off into Lanxess), and Rohm & Haas, which was acquired by Dow.[i]

With a focus on innovation and materials science expertise, Dow offers a broad portfolio of silicone and organic based leather treatment additives and processing aids for several markets, including mobility and consumer. With this agreement, TFL aims to serve the natural leather market, in particular, that of the automotive sector, and to drive sustainable innovations.

“Recent years have demonstrated the importance of close collaboration among members of the value chain. To achieve the increased sustainability goals that the industry, brands and consumers are looking for, it is essential that global partners with assets and technical expertise around the globe work together,” stated Bianca Verstegen, Global Head of Product Management, TFL. “With the strategic distribution arrangement with Dow, we align leather industry needs with our joined chemical capabilities and provide our customers with Great Chemicals. Excellent Advice”.

Isabelle Riff, Global Market Leader, Leather & Textiles, Dow, comments that “Thanks to this relationship with TFL, leading manufacturer and supplier of leather chemicals, Dow has greater insights into the needs at the very end of the value chain and leverages its core chemistry competencies to the benefit of a sustainable future of these industries.”
