Meat processing company JBS has suspended beef production at 33 of its 36 units in Brazil.
Beginning this week, the company will operate all of these units 35% below their full capacity. These steps are being taken to adapt production until the situation involving the embargo by importers of Brazilian meat is clearer.
JBS has announced that the change in the meat production will not affect JBS Couros (the leather division) production levels in the short to mid-term, due to the way the division is structured and its current stock levels.
JBS says it is making every effort to safeguard the jobs of its 125,000 employees throughout the country.
