Leather Supplier ISA TanTec has given the go-ahead for construction on its second Vietnam-based tannery to begin.
The company announced last year that they would build a 28,500 square metre facility, and this is the latest step towards that. Completion is pencilled in for the end of the year.
When added to their existing plants in the US, Vietnam, Italy and China, this will be the group’s fifth such facility. It is expected that it will create around 1,000 jobs, with facilities including manufacturing, a waste-water treatment plant, a dormitory and a canteen.
There will be room for expansion on the 61,500 square metre site, which is located in the Tay Ninh Province, in close proximity to the company’s existing tannery in Binh Duong Province and also to their business hub in Ho Chi Minh City.
Customers of the group include brands such as Wolverine, Deckers, Timberland, Clarks and The North Face.
