The newest developments in science, technology, and positive experiences will soon be shared with more than 400 people at the world's largest technical event in the leather industry at the 35th IULTCS Congress (International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies), taking place in Dresden, Germany from 25-28 June.
The Brazilian Leather Project — an initiative of the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) to encourage Brazilian leather in the foreign market — is supporting the congress, which will also host an exclusive lecture about Brazilian sustainability certification.
The central theme of this edition is: Benign by Design. Leather: the future through science and sustainability. According to the organization, the theme indicates ways in which research and development in the leather industry should be directed: sustainably, with chemical solutions that minimise environmental impact and improve results in other areas.
"It will be an excellent opportunity for exchanging knowledge, experience, and expertise among professionals and colleagues from all over the world in order to shape our industry for the future”, said congress president Dietrich Tegtmeyer.
Brazil will be present in several of the congress' pillars. Brazilian Leather will have its own space for sharing projects related to leathers in Brazil and exhibiting the Leather Preview (Preview do Couro) display and, as a supporter, even had the opportunity to appoint a representative of the Senai Institute of Technology in Leather and the Environment as congressperson.
Within the technical programme, participants will have an exclusive moment to study the latest results of the Brazilian Leather Certification of Sustainability (CSCB) in detail, with a lecture by Álvaro Flores (the 26th at 3:30 p.m.). Revista do Couro (ABQTIC), one of the congress's media partners for the last two years, will also be present in Dresden promoting Brazil's leather industry.
