In this newly created position, Shen will lead Eagle Ottawa in the development and execution of a comprehensive, long-term market strategy for Asia, and will report directly to Jerry Sumpter, President and CEO of Eagle Ottawa.

“The Asian automotive leather market is already the largest in the world and continues to grow at a faster pace than any other market," said Sumpter. "With our significant manufacturing, design, and R&D presence in China and Thailand, Eagle Ottawa is well positioned to take advantage of this growth. Jeffrey Shen brings a wealth of diverse automotive experience in Asia that will provide a unique perspective for Eagle Ottawa as we develop our long term growth strategy for the region."

Shen spent 30 years with Ford Motor Company in the Asia Pacific region and retired in 2010 as president and CEO of Changan Ford Mazda Automotive Corporation Ltd. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from National Cheng Kong University in Taiwan, and obtained an EMBA certificate of the Executive Program from the University of Michigan in 1996.

“Having been a part of the global automotive industry for many years, I was aware of Eagle Ottawa’s reputation as a reliable provider of quality leather products," said Shen. "Since joining them, I’ve realised that Eagle Ottawa is much more and has all the hallmarks of a world-class automotive supplier. I look forward to using my knowledge and experience to help the company become the market leader in the Asia region."
