Less machinery at Tanning Tech 2011

4 October 2011

In an effort to keep costs down there will be less tannery machinery and equipment on display at Tanning Tech this year. Organised by the Italian Tannery and Footwear Machinery Manufacturers Association (Assomac) this year’s event will take place at the Bologna Fiera alongside Lineapelle and Simac (the footwear machinery fair) October 18-20.

Traditionally, Tanning Tech is the main international showcase for the latest mechanical innovations in the tanning industry.

A majority of Assomac members have agreed that in 2011 there will be fewer machines on display than usual as a measure to reduce the high costs of attending the fair especially during the economically difficult period that many manufacturers, especially in Europe are facing.

Tanning Tech takes place later this month with the machinery makers housed in the usual hall 35 with the chemical producers located in hall 26. The Italian chemical makers will be represented through their recently formed Association of Italian Leather Chemical Producers (UPAC). Last year over 1000 pieces of machinery and equipment were exhibited but this number will be reduced during the next edition.

Assomac are hoping that exhibitors will revert to having larger stands with their latest machinery on display again in 2012 thus making Tanning Tech a larger fair every two years in the future.
