Hide market crash meeting in Hong Kong
11 February 2009The APLF organisers and Ron Sauer are proposing an informal conference/seminar on the current hide market crash. If sufficient interest is forthcoming it will be held on the morning of day three at the Hong Kong fair. So far interest has been expressed from the USA, India, Italy, France, Germany and South Africa.
According to Ron Sauer, the events of the last couple of months on the raw hide market are no doubt the hottest item in our trade. The idea for a seminar on this topic is subject to sufficient people being willing to participate.
‘Speakers are needed so if you or anyone you know has something to say, an opinion to offer, criticism or frustration preferably constructive to utter, don't hesitate to let us know. Discussions should be informal and spontaneous. No prepared speeches in writing are required.'
Subjects in mind so far are:
1) expected development of raw hide prices this year with arguments, explanations
2) lawlessness in the raw trade, solutions?
3) absence of leather association involvement during the present problematic period.
