George joins Satra

17 January 2005

One of the UK's leading brands, George Clothing has become one of the latest UK companies to join SATRA. George is now the number one volume retailer in the UK, selling within branches of leading supermarket chain ASDA and is further enhancing its brand awareness by the opening of stand-alone stores in the high street. The brand has also gone global through Wal-Mart stores in America, Canada, Germany, Mexico, Korea and Japan, and includes clothing for all ages and a range of footwear. A delegation from the company has already visited the technology centre's laboratories to evaluate its testing capabilities. These included examining SATRA's assessment procedures for general footwear testing, fitting, comfort, clothing and fabric care, chemical analysis and laboratory accreditation, training and auditing. Andrew Smith, George's fabrics manager, says: 'We see joining SATRA as instrumental in continuing to endorse the quality message to our suppliers and customers.'
