Fire damages Lefa factory

A fault believed to be in an electric installation is the most probable cause of the fire which affected the offices of the Lefa tannery. Lefa situated on the industrial estate Can Prat de Mollet del Valles in Catalonia produce leathergoods and binding leathers. The fire was discovered at five o'clock in the morning on August 5 and destroyed part of the 1,000 m2 offices. The fire caused a great deal of smoke damage and the fifth floor was in danger of collapsing. The third and fourth floors were also seriously affected as the fire advanced towards the part of the factory where more combustible material is stored.
