Desa gains altitude

As elsewhere, Türkiye has embraced low-cost airlines offering competition for conventional fleets and two or three such airlines compete with national carrier, Turkish Airlines. Desa Deri told Leather International that they have completed the first order for all-leather seats for one of these new airlines. 'We did the seats for two aircraft and four new planes on order will also be done by Desa', general manager, Burak Celet said. First quality cow and steer hides are sourced from a Scottish tannery and Desa completes the process, supplying the leather, cutting, stitching and fitting out the seat. So far, they are the only Turkish firm to supply aviation leathers. It is relatively recently that Turkish tanneries noticed advantages and diversity in upholstery, automotive and home furnishing leathers.
