Cotance formerly join ICT

14 November 2011

At the ICT Council Meeting on November 6 in Rio de Janeiro ICT (International Council of Tanners) formally accepted an application from Cotance, the European tanners association, for the 15 member associations of Cotance to join ICT as a group. This followed detailed discussions on the revision of the ICT statutes, which were formally amended at the Council meeting in March 2011.

The amendments were to allow the possibility of a collective regional membership, to adjust the voting mechanism to ensure any vote would not be dominated by a regional bloc, to add the promotion of good governance in the industry to the overall ICT objectives and to redefine and strengthen the basis of the Executive Committee.

ICT has already been co-operating closely with Cotance on such topics as the labelling and designation of leather and leather products, and looks forward to developing this collaboration with Cotance as a member.
