Clariant at the Istanbul Leather Fair

Clariant will show their latest fashion collection inspired by surprising colours and styles on most types of leathers including shoe upper, handbag, garment, doubleface etc...

New products, techniques and application systems will be presented for wet end and finishing solutions.

Clariant continue to use leading edge technology in order to provide chemicals that meet today's requirements for ecological, innovative and aesthetically pleasing leathers, while giving the tanner maximum added value and process simplicity.

Highlights from wet-end include the new Derma Flor Dyes, an economical range for shoe upper and garment leathers. Derma Flor Range have very good cost effectiveness and optimum fastness levels for shoe upper and garment leathers.

The new Derma Soft Dyes are the solution for levelness which can be a headache for tanners when paler shades are needed. A couple of years ago Clariant launched the Derma Soft range, based on the pre-dispersing technology which has demonstrated its suitability in overcoming this problem. Continuing with their policy of innovation, Clariant have gone one step further forward.

Three new members of the range are being launched. These three new dyestuffs give the same perfect levelness and high fastness properties but with approximately twice the intensity of the shade of the original members of the Derma Soft Range.

Lightweight bovine garment leather with their new polymer Tergoten PO-60 Paste will also be featured. Tergotan PO-60 Paste is a lubricating polymer for automotive, upholstery and softy leather types. It gives high light and heat resistance with very low specific weight and high softness. It also increases the physical properties of the leather.

There will also be new effects and practical ways for veg-look leathers with their new fatliquors and waxes. Derminol CO-50 Liquid is a multi-purpose combined fatliquor which is a replacement for natural egg yolk. Derminol CO-50 Liquid has excellent grain lubrication without any problems of ‘smearing' on the grain or flesh side. If used in combination with other fatliquors, it helps to keep the grain clean and dry. Due to these properties, it provides the ideal base for polishing, glazing and burnishing.

Derminol PUA Paste is a drum stuffing compound which provides an elegant and permanent pull-up effect on grain leathers, especially after polishing, burnishing or hot plating.

Upgrading your tannage and helping the environment can be achieved with Feliderm DP Liquid and Feliderm CS Liquid. New techiques in chrome tannage, use less chrome and get better chome uptake. Feliderm DP Liquid exhibits a strong masking action, improving penetration and distribution of the tanning agent. Feliderm CS Liquid produces a wet-blue of excellent quality and improves physical properties. Resultant leathers are soft, with a tight grain and good dyeing properties.

On the finishing front, upgrading - keeping leather's elegance -the following innovations will be presented: Melio Aquabase Technique to cover defects; Melio Aquabase RN-03; Melio Aquabase RN-04.

Melio Aquabase RN-03 and Melio Aquabase RN-04 are very strong filling products especially developed for reverse roller coater application.These products are used to fill-up deep crust defects to make them invisible after finishing. Both products can be used for various leathers, for example furniture, shoe upper (eg brush-off and college type), split etc.

Melio Ground UP is a new dimension of pre-base, high filling and sealing that maintains the crust's softness. Easy to apply and amazing in result. Melio Ground UP beautifies every leather but was especially developed to upgrade without loading the grain. Suitable for plated, embossed, corrected grain leathers and also for those with a damaged grain. With universal application possibilities in furniture, garment leather and shoe upper nappas.

New Aqualen Top Coat Systems - Aqualen Top LN.A is Clariant's new ecological top coat product for aqueous patent leather imitation. It was  developed to meet highest requirements of both gloss level and physicals. Aqualen Top LN.A is an aqueous, modified aliphatic polyurethane dispersion. Leathers finished with Aqualen Top LN.A are distinguished by their beautiful brilliance and depth of gloss. The application can be done as usual by reverse roller coater. Due to market demands Aqualen Top LN.A was also developed to allow application by spraying techniques. This new and really unique characteristic offers the finisher a new world of application possibilities.

Aqualen Top DC-2050.A / Aqualen Top GC-2051.A is a brand new development especially for soft leathers such as furniture leather or shoe upper leather nappas. It is a new top coat system based on Aqualen Top DC-2050.A (dull) and Aqualen Top GC-2051.A (gloss). Common for both products and so for the whole system is the very elegant optic as a result of the softness, very high resistance to both rubbing and flexing, no hardening even after long period of time, a very natural appearrance and pleasant feel.

The well known and established Melio Resin A-931.A is a medium soft polyacrylic dispersion of low stickiness and very high water resistance which is now globaly available.

Innovative solutions for brilliant leather dyeing with Supronil HK dyes offer highly concentrated solutions of metal complex dyes in water-miscible solvents, applicable in aqueous as well as in an organic medium. Most of the colours are suitable for waterproof applications.

They provide versatile use in spray dyeing, base/top-and effect coats; are NMP-free; show good waterdrop resistance; excellent fastness properties (eg light fastness); suitable for waterproof application (eg Maeser); and are compatible with water and organic solvent.
