Buyers delighted with exhibition

3 November 2005

Fashion Access October 2005 ran from October 6-8 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The fair was widely perceived as a great success, underscored by the record number of buyers it attracted (7,182) from all over the world. Many buyers expressed their satisfaction. Tiffany Chuang, Assistant Manager, China Rebar Co Ltd (handbags, shoes), representing Idee, one of the largest department stores in Taiwan, visited the fair as a VIP buyer: 'We visit Fashion Access twice a year. We have already placed orders for more than 3,000 handbags with new suppliers at the fair.' Su Weibing, Vice President of Zhongshan Yihua Department Store Co. Ltd (shoes): 'We come here to find new trends in leathergoods. It is wonderful to find so many well-designed Spanish shoes and handbags in the Top Style Hall. We will open a new chain store very soon and would like to import high-end European products. I have invited a Spanish exhibitor to visit our department store. If we are able to reach an agreement, I will act as their agent to sell their products and help them to promote their brand in China. Avi Salonichios - Mil-Idee, Canada (belts): 'I have visited the fair for the first time last April and was looking for belt suppliers. In view of the promising business opportunities, I have decided to import bags as well. As the first step, I returned to Fashion Access to identify suppliers and familiarise myself with the handbag business. I am very excited to be back here again as I was inspired to expand my business when I saw the possibilities at Fashion Access. Alexander M Dehaan - Christine Alexander, USA (handbags, garments, belts, fashion jewellery): 'This is my first visit to Fashion Access. We buy large volumes and the show provides a good range of bags, belts, and fashion accessories. I will return in March to look for new suppliers.' The October fair presented 451 exhibiting companies who, collectively, represented 20 countries and regions. Over 33% of the exhibitors displayed handbags and bags, 28% showed leather goods and 15% offered footwear. Eight major group pavilions represented China, Hong Kong, France, Korea, The Philippines, Spain, Taiwan and Japan. Fashion Access continues to attract new exhibitors.
