Bayer Polymers provide internet platform for the shoe industry

22 August 2003

Bayer Polymers, a division of Bayer AG, are offering a new internet portal for the shoe industry. The core of the portal (www.footwear.bayerpolymers.com) is the 'Showroom'. Here, in addition to the Bayflex Footwear range of polyurethane products, there is a wealth of product information on rubber, plastics, adhesive raw materials and the associated additives. Examples of applications and additional information illustrate the wide range of uses for Bayer Polymers products. A further highlight of the industry portal is the 'Innovation' page, where visitors can see at a glance the latest applications and technology in the field of sole production, and check out the most important events in the industry. Information on processing technologies and testing methods, brochures and technical literature can be found in the 'Techcenter', as well as assistance with routine work. In the Techcenter the visitor can gain access to the wide-ranging expertise and specialist know-how available at Bayer Polymers. The portal is rounded out by news relevant to the industry and a connection to the eBusiness platform BayerONE. In the new footwear portal, Bayer Polymers are pooling the expertise they have gained from their various activities in the shoe industry. Information from Bayer Chemicals, another division of Bayer AG, primarily in the area of leather coating and impregnation, can also be accessed by the visitor. In this way, comprehensive information is made available for the first time about all aspects of shoe production using Bayer's raw materials and systems. Information and services from systems houses and other Bayer divisions and partner companies are also soon to be integrated into the portal. Through the construction of a worldwide 'Footwear Community' an active forum is to be created for the whole branch, with up-to-date information, an industry address book and a host of value-added services from all areas of the shoe industry. It is also intended that the forum should allow issues and questions relating to the industry to be discussed in a secure area.
