Bayer launch neutralising retan

15 September 2003

Bayer Chemicals, a division of Bayer AG, have developed a new retanning material with a high buffering and neutralising capacity. It is known as Tanigan PAK. It can be used either on its own or in combination with conventional neutralising agents such as sodium bicarbonate or sodium formate etc to neutralise all chrome tanned leathers. Tanigan PAK has good resistance to light and heat yellowing, and the resultant light crust colour makes it ideal for white and pastel shade leathers. Unlike conventional retanning materials, Tanigan PAK, does not brighten dye shades with anionic dyestuffs and is, therefore, particularly suitable as a neutralising tanning material in the retannage of aniline leathers which require good fullness of shade, brilliance, levelness and lightfastness.
