Bayer build León facility23 April 2002
Bayer are building a new multifunctional technical service centre and warehouse close to the tanning cluster in León, Mexico. The new 10,000 sq m site will include a 1,500 sq m office, laboratory and warehouse complex and is due to be completed at the end of May. Bayer have invested over US$1 million in the plant and the leather division will share the facility with Bayer's pu division. 'The new site has been specifically located close to the tanneries in Santa Croce near León. It will house our Mexican sales force and our alliance partners', says Craig Glover Keyser, sales manger, Bayer Mexico - Leather. 'Bayer is doing very well in Mexico and in the future we want to offer our customers more value added services. We have the strength of a regional company with the back up of a global network', he added. Bayer Mexico also announced during the Anpic fair that they have signed an agreement with MK do Brasil for them to be sales agents and distributors in Mexico for the Brazilian leather chemical manufacturers. Bayer's aim is to be a 'one stop shop' for tanners and they have already established strategic alliances with Rohm and Haas, Atlas Refinery and Seta in Mexico. 'We want to provide the full range of products, services and logistics for our customers both here in Mexico and around the world', says Keyser.
