The West Bengal government has granted approval to footwear specialists Bata India to construct an integrated housing complex. The government allotted 262 acres of industrial land for real estate development in South 24 Parganas district, about 50 km from Kolkata. The complex will be developed with infrastructural facilities within two years. Besides building a number of modern multi-storey buildings, the master plan for the project includes a hospital, school, industrial park, hotel and retail zone. Around 74 acres will be used for the township, 88 acres for social infrastructure, 80 acres for a golf course and another 12 acres for an industrial park.
