April date for Leather Orientation Course

6 February 2002

The Leather Research Laboratory has scheduled the Leather Orientation Course this year for April 10-11. The seminar will be held at the University of Cincinnati, and is designed specifically for professionals involved in leather purchasing, quality control or product design, as well as newer tannery employees. This intensive seminar provides participants with the knowledge and understanding necessary to make strategic decisions on leather choice, setting performance standards, and assessing quality compliance. Participants will watch first-hand the production of wet-blue, in addition to learning about defects, recognising different and speciality leathers and witnessing performance testing. This course is designed specifically for the leather buyer - the individual responsible for sourcing leather for products such as coats or shoes. The presentations have been geared to answer the most common questions about leather, from how to determine its properties to how to identify potential defects. There is no other course in the US geared especially for the leather buyer. Past attendees include leather buyers from such companies as Aris Isotoner, H H Brown Shoe Co, Coach Leather, Lands' End, Polo-Ralph Lauren, and Reebok. For more information, contact Dr Nicholas J Cory, Leather Research Laboratory, at +1 513 242-6300. Registration cost is $850. Also see: [http://www.leatherusa.org]
