A close shave from ITM

14 January 2003

Recently formed Italian Tecnology Machine (ITM) are a new force on the international tannery machinery market (see news). At the recent Tanning Tech exhibition in Bologna they introduced three new machines, two for shaving and an embossing press. On display at the ITM stand was their new 1.8m shaving machine. The Universal Shaving Machine Mod C is a patented machine aimed at shaving pickled pelts, wet-blue, wet-white and crust leathers. Material is passed through a chrome-plated and rubber cylinders to the shaving roller. The operator is able to fully control and adjust the thickness of the shaving and alter the distances for shaving uneven hides or skins. The working parameters for the machine are displayed electronically on a touch screen. The Mod C features a patented system to hold the physical position of the chrome-plated roller and the rubber roller, which cannot be altered when using new or used rollers. ITM have also added a fast system for vertical adjustment between the chrome-plated cylinder and the blade roller (to change the cut angle). This allows the best possible cut from each kind of manufactured material. The machine is fitted with a complete guard to protect the operator, a motorised hide detacher and connections to add a dust extraction system, particularly when shaving dry leather. ITM produce six models from the Mod C range with a wide range of working widths.
