TFL service centre in Kolkata Leather Complex
TFL have opened a new service centre, laboratory and office within the Kolkata Leather Complex. TFL decided to be present in this emerging leather cluster, which is a little outside of the city, in order to improve contact with their customers and to offer them an optimum service in the future. This means from now on, customers will be able to get feedback on technical problems on the spot with the customer’s own material.
PrimeAsia Vietnam switch to biomass energy
PrimeAsia Leather Co. Vietnam (PAV) have announced the burning of rice husk biomass, producing 100% of the steam at the tannery as of September 1, 2012. The biomass boiler replaced the usage of heavy oil boilers. The rice husks are collected from rice processing factories in Vietnam and turned into rice husk pellets in a processing plant near Ho Chi Minh City.
Stahl open upgraded Performance Leather centre

Visitor numbers up 5% at Modacalzado + Iberpiel
The majority of exhibitors at the recent Modacalzado & Iberpiel shows offered a reasonably favourable response to their participation at the fair, being satisfied with their expectations in difficult market conditions.The Foreign Buyers Programme and the Meetings Schedule were highly rated. The footwear and leather goods fair took place in the Feria de Madrid, September 22-24.

The 18th Session of the UNIDO Leather Panel (Shanghai, September 1-5, 2012) addressed the important issue of the LCA (life cycle analysis) methodologies that should allow the leather industry to get a fair and accurate calculation of the carbon/water footprint of leather.

Customs seize leather garments with fur trimmings
According to local media reports, Pakistan customs have stopped the export of leather garments with fur trimmings and seeking export permits of National Council for Conservation of Wildlife (NCCW) Islamabad. Exporters said that Customs Export Collectorate had disallowed all such exports since July 24 this year, adding that no certification was required for export of leather garments with fur trimmings.
