Italian Firms Consider Pakistan Industry Investments
According to Pakistan’s ambassador to Italy, the country’s companies are keen to pour investment into various sectors of Pakistan and the investment will further strengthen economic ties between the two countries. Speaking to the media, the ambassador said that at present Italian firms had investment in various sectors including leather, textiles, food, steel, tourism, information technology and automobile. He lauded the role of Italian government, embassy and private sector in providing technical assistance and making technology transfer to Pakistan, particularly in the export-oriented leather and textile sectors.
Indian Goverment Plans to Extend Leather Incentive Scheme
India’s government is likely to extend its incentive scheme for the leather and footwear industries, IFLADP, until 2025-26 with an outlay of ₹1,700 crore. They plan to further boost manufacturing, exports and job creation, an official said.
Bentley Joins Leather Working Group
British luxury car manufacturer Bentley has become the first automotive brand to join the Leather Working Group (LWG). The move comes as part of its ambition to become the world’s most sustainable automotive brand. Bentley joins 190 other brands and retailers who have also become members in support of the group’s efforts to drive excellence in the environmental, social and governance aspects of the leather industry.
Rwanda to Get New Tannery Park in Bugesera
Rwanda’s Ministry of Trade and Industry has assured players in the leather value chain that plans for a modern tannery park in Bugesera District are in place. The aim is to reduce tanned hide and skin imports as well as to reduce the country’s trade deficit.
Pakistan Italy Trade Ties Flourish
Italy’s ambassador to Pakistan, Andreas Ferrarese, said the opportunities to enhance mutual trade and investment between the two countries is vast and mutually beneficial. Speaking to the business community in Islamabad on Wednesday, the envoy urged Pakistani businessmen and traders to make efforts to promote mutual trade and economic ties between the two nations.

Turkey leather goods exports to Uzbekistan surged by 87.1% from January through to July 2021, compared to the same period of 2020, exceeding $4.82m, according to the Turkish Ministry of Trade.
