Pakistan Leather Exports Surge
Stakeholders in Pakistan’s leather sector have enjoyed the surge in exports of their products following the relaxation of lockdowns in foreign countries. The significant relaxation of lockdowns in a number of export destinations, hand-in-hand with the government’s policies, the country’s leather industry is witnessing a steady recovery.
Chanel Announce New CEO
French fashion house Chanel named its new global CEO this week: Leena Nair, a consumer goods veteran and executive from Unilever will now run one of the world’s biggest luxury goods groups. Nair’s career at Unilever spanned 30 years, most recently as the chief of human resources and a member of the company’s executive committee.
Negma Group and FAI Purchase Zilli
The 56-year-old French men’s fashion house, originally known for its luxury leather jackets, will be turned into a “key player in luxury menswear”, Negma Group and FAI announced. The new owners aim to “highlight its identity and the history that it has built up over more than 50 years and capitalise on its Lyon-based expertise”.

Norges Bank Acquires Boohoo Stake
The central bank of Norway, Norges, has acquired a 3.1% stake in the British online fashion retailer Boohoo, according to documents filed with the London Stock Exchange. Following the acquisition, the bank has become the fifth largest institutional investor in the retailer. Mahmud Kamani, co-founder of Boohoo, continues to be its largest shareholder.

Calls for Bangladesh Leather Sector to Seek Better Branding
