Serbian imports of leather and leather products in January and February were worth E34.5 million, as against E45.4 million in the same months in 2008. Leather and leather products accounted for 3.4% of total Serbian exports in the first two months of this year, compared with 2.6% in the same months last year, with these commodity types accounting for 2.1% of total imports, as against 2% of imports in the same period in 2008.

Production of leather and leather products in Serbia in February was 28.7% lower than in February 2008. In comparison, industrial output in Serbia in February was 19.7% lower year-on-year.

A geographical breakdown of leather and leathergoods production in Serbia in February reveals that production in Central Serbia fell by 30.9% year-on-year, while production in Vojvodina decreased by 27.1%.
