Young designers from four institutions across Europe had the opportunity to present their work at Pielespaña in a dedicated fashion show. The event, organised in collaboration with the Spanish Tanners’ association CEC-FECUR, was aimed at promoting the use of leather and highlighting its versatility. Students from ESDI Barcelona, EDA Mallorca, Northampton University, UK, and the London College of Fashion, UK, presented a range of 48 creations in leather for the autumn/winter 2005-2006 for men and women in the group fashion show.
Creations echoed colours from the professional collections with shades such as tangerine and baby blue featuring heavily, but key features exclusive to the young designers’ collection included hoods, cropped sleeves, and generally longer lines with more flowing styles.
The panel of judges was chaired by Enrique Loewe, president of the Loewe foundation. The winning design was a maternity dress in ivory leather with zip fastening and capped sleeves, featuring an eye-catching chunky pleated waistband. Designer Agnès Baldamà from the Escuela Superior de Diseño in Barcelona will have the chance to open the professional fashion show at the 2006 edition of Pielespaña.
