Spanish leather chemical manufacturers, Cromogenia-Units, have acquired a factory unit 100km south of Barcelona and use it for the production of syntans used in leather making.
The new plant is located in the town of Alcover, close to Tarragona and will allow Cromogenia to increase their syntan capacity by 50%. The new site was purchased at the end of last year and production began at the beginning of 2003.
Cromogenia-Units have their main production site in the El Prat district of Barcelona and will use the new facility to export leather chemicals such as syntans worldwide, particularly to south-east Asia where they have been growing their market.
In the future, the company plan to open their own small production plant in China.
