The 61st International Golf Championship of the Shoe, Leather & Allied Trade will take place on June 22 and 23, 2006, at the Woodhall Spa Gold Club, Lincolnshire. An optional practice day will be held on June 21.
Sponsored by Clarks, K.P.E. Printing, Start-rite, Shoetek and Wollaston Marketing, the event will be played over 36 holes in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Last year, 150 golfers from all branches of the trade attended the annual tournament held at the famous Killarney golf courses in southern Ireland. £15,000 was donated to the trade charities and one of the main beneficiaries was the Footwear Benevolent Society.
Both men and women are eligible to play, as long as they have a recognised golf handicap and their business is at least 75% in the trade. Players of all standards can participate for the many trophies on offer over the two days. Low handicap golfers can participate in the Trade International and the Wilbur Muirhead Scratch Cup, as well as the Championship played under handicap and the Regional Trophies.
Well over 100 golfers are expected to participate, many from Europe. There will be a large gathering at the Informal Trade Banquet on the evening of Thursday June 22.
Entries need to be returned by April 10 to Michael Hull, 1 Orwell Road, Norwich, NR2 2ND or email m.hull90@ntlworld.com
