Italian leather finishing chemical makers, Kemiter, inaugurated their new production plant in the Macrolotto Industrial Area, Castelfranco di Sotto, Italy. The new factory is located in the heart of the Santa Croce sull’ Arno tanning cluster. The opening ceremony took place at the new site on May 21.

Invited guests and local dignitaries were given a tour of the plant and were shown Kemiter’s most recent range of fashion cards and leathers featuring the latest trends.

‘Strong growth over years has made it necessary to expand our position. In our new site, we have increased our production capacity and equipped the new plant with the most advanced technology and automated control’, said Pasqualino D’Adamo, Kemiter president. The new site occupies an area of 6,000 sq m of which 3,500 sq m is covered. The plant includes a modern production facility, offices, pilot plant, laboratory and warehouse.

Kemiter were established in 1993 and, as a privately run company, were the first in Italy to produce and market liquid dyestuffs in an aqueous solution.

Kemiter supply dyestuffs, pigments, casein finishes, natural and synthetic waxes, oil and silicone emulsions, dispersions, nitroemulsions and esterifications. The family-owned business had a turnover in 2003 of €4.5 million and their major markets include Italy, China and India. Asian markets accounted for 30% of total turnover.
