Iran’s Standards and Industrial Research Institute (ISIRI) is considering the introduction of checks on imported goods, including leather products, to determine whether these goods comply with Iranian standards, according to the IRNA news agency. An ISIRI official was reported as saying that import permits would be issued only after quality checks were undertaken on these goods. It is also possible that Iran will require imported goods to be checked in their country of origin in order to prevent sub-standard goods reaching the country.
