Hungary’s Central Statistical Office reports that Hungary imported leather and leather products worth US$236 million in the first nine months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 0.4%. This rose to US$267 million at the ten-month stage.

Hungarian exports of the same types of commodities in the January to September period were 24.6% higher year-on-year at US$124 million rising to US$39 million in the first ten months.

Production of leather and leather products in Hungary in the first ten months of this year was 44.6% higher than in the same period in 2005. Overall sales of the same types of commodities in the January to October period were 43.2% higher year-on-year, with an increase in sales of 11.8% on the domestic Hungarian market and 51.5% higher sales on export markets.
