The Trust was set up with a basis of donations from industry in memory of the former research director of the British Leather Manufacturers Research Association. The objectives of the trust are to encourage and support young people working in the industry, or engaged in relevant research, to travel and to study leather science.
The bursary will cover attendance at the SLTC Conference 2008 (including lunch) and the annual dinner dance plus single room bed and breakfast accommodation at The Telford Golf & Spa Hotel (or similar). The recipient will be expected to make their own travel arrangements and pay for personal expenses at the hotel.
To be eligible you need to be aged 40 or under and work/study in a part of the industry related to leather (for example this could be a tannery, supply company, manufacturer, test house, leather student etc).
All applications need to be with Pat Potter by Friday August 8, 2008, latest and forms can be obtained from: office@sltc.org
There are a maximum of ten bursaries available and applicants will be required to write a brief one page report on how you feel you have benefited from attending the conference. This will need to be submitted to SLTC by October 31, 2008.
