Brazil’s March exports of hides and skins totaled US$103.8 million, 37.7% more than in the previous month, but 13.6% less compared to the same month last year when exports totaled US$120.1 million.
The data was presented by the SECEX (Secretariat of Foreign Trade) of the Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services and analyzed by the CICB.
The total exported in square meters in March was 14.1 million. That’s an increase of 32.0% over January, and 3.4% over March of last year, when the total was 13.6 million square meters.
Exports in the year’s first quarter totaled US$278.4 million, 16.1% below the same period in 2022, but 5.4% higher in area at 39.2 million square meters.
March exports were up significantly in March, but even so, the value is still below the levels of the same month last year. Volume did grow, with area improving by 3.4% over March 2022, and weight was higher by 16.1%. For the year to date, area has increased by 5.4% and weight by 22.4%.
Export volume was up significantly to two main markets — China and Italy. The United States still showed decreases in value and volume, but they were improvements compared to the index accumulated through February. Italy, on the other hand, had positive data, but the indices were worse than they had been. China, the biggest market, is again showing improvements and stabilizing stability with regard to value. Volumes continues to grow.
