The organising committee for the 35th Congress of the IULTCS (International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies), which will take place in Dresden, Germany, approved the Brazilian Leather Certification of Sustainability's (CSCB) scientific work for presentation at the event. Being accepted entails explanation through lectures and being published in the collection of conference articles — this being the leather segment's most important conference. The CSCB is supported by the Brazilian Leather Project — an initiative of the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) to encourage Brazil's participation in foreign markets
The work's author is Álvaro Flores, coordinator of the CSCB and the person who will make the presentation in Dresden, from June 25–28th. He explains that the article brings forth the collection and analysis of certification indicators, from the beginning of its implementation in Brazilian industry to the present day. "It will be an opportunity to share the results we have already observed with the scientific community and also to gather important, up-to-date information to enrich the certification, and thus improve the efficiency and productivity of Brazil's leather sector," he explains. This is the third congress where CSCB is to be presented: in 2018, certification was the only Brazilian case shown at the International Footwear Congress in Portugal and in 2015 it was released at the Brazilian edition of the IULTCS congress.
This 35th edition of the IULTCS Congress is organized by the German Union of Chemists and Technicians of the Leather Industry (VGCT) and is sponsored by the Brazilian Leather Project. See previous programming and registration information at: iultcs2019.org.
