Bradford Council this week knocked back plans to alter the windows of the old tannery, built in 1900 on the grounds that it would remove significant characteristic features of the building.
The plans were to replace the single glazed windows on the building, which has recently been converted to flats, also to redecorate the timber elements. The top two storeys of the building are timber built, which is a characteristic of leatherworks according to heritage officers.
The planning application stated that works would be necessary in order to stop the listed building falling into decline. But was knocked back because the changes applied for would make significant and detrimental change to what is an authentic listed building.
