Specialty chemicals company LANXESS will be presenting its new developments and innovative solutions for the leather industry at the All China Leather Exhibition (ACLE) in Shanghai, China, from 29 to 31 August 2018. At booth E03, Hall 2 of the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, the leather business unit will showcase its range of chemicals for the production of leather for the footwear, apparel, furniture and automotive industries. These include chemicals for the beamhouse process, mineral and synthetic tanning agents, preservatives, retanning agents, fatliquors, dyes and numerous finishing products.
Innovative leather chemistry
Among other things, the focus of this year’s trade fair will be on air quality in the interiors of cars with leather equipment. To this end, the company is holding a seminar for trade visitors on 30 August from 12:00 to 13:30 in Hall E2, room M20. Dr Volker Rabe, head of Technical Product Management for Tanning Technology at LANXESS, will present the latest findings on VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) and the minimisation of odours from leather vehicle components. At the LANXESS stand, interested parties can gain an impression of the effective handling of such odours by means of tests.
Another focus is the protection of leather intermediates against yeasts and fungi. Dr Dietrich Tegtmeyer, who is responsible at LANXESS for the global development of crusting and leather industry relations, provides an update on preservation with OPP (ortho-phenylphenol), one of the most sustainable biocides in the leather industry.
