While some major players – notably Vietnam and Bangladesh – report falling export volumes, Pakistan’s most recent figures show an 8% increase in leather goods sold from the country. 

Pakistan exported leather products worth $478m during July-May 2017-18, up from $443m in July-May 2016-17. According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) that is an increase of 8%. Meanwhile, in a year-on-year basis, the exports of leather products increased by 21.6% in May 2018 compared to the exports of May 2017

A closer look at the figures reveals that the exports of leather garments increased by 15% in May 2018 compared to exports in May 2017. Meanwhile exports of leather gloves surged by 31%, and other leather products by 28%.
