In wet-end chemicals, TFL has Drywalk Wam for low bleaching, moderate softness and high Bally/Maeser levels. This effective waterproofing fatliquor for chrome and combination-tanned leathers (full grain and suede) is recommended when high Bally penetrometer or high Maeser flexes are requested; imparts moderate softness and a very pleasant surface handle; and features a very favourable, low or no bleaching effect on dye-shades.

Drywalk Wam is also compatible/useful in combination with all other TFL products used in waterproofing recipes; namely, Borron WP, Drywalk (IN, FAT and WAS-1), Magnopal (POL new and SOF) as well as Tannesco CPR liq for chrome-free capping.

Achieving deep black shades on heavily retanned wet-blue or wet-white articles has always been a problem; Invaderm DB is a colour-intensifying agent for deep black shades. When too little black dye is used, grey shades are obtained; when too much black dye is used, a saturation-point can easily be reached that results in an unwanted, unattractive, bronzed-effect and, as a consequence, poor rubbing-fastness results.

With the introduction of Invaderm DB, those problems can be resolved. It deepens black shades without compromising fastness properties, imparts a very noticeable and a very pleasant silky handle, and is compatible with all Sella Fast black dyes.

The benefits of Invaderm DB make it highly suitable for use in the production of suede, split and nubuck; shoe (and leather goods) and garment articles.

Improvements in colour intensity can be achieved when Invaderm DB is used in direct methods; however, the most remarkable results are achieved when it is used in indirect methods (from crust).

Another product to consider is Tannesco CPR liq, a capping, pretanning and retanning agent. When it is used as a capping agent at the end of the waterproofing process (instead of chromium sulphate), the leathers are firmer, and the dyeing is brighter and more intense. Equally important is the fact that no additional chromium sulphate is being added to the tannery effluent.

Used in the pretanning of small skins, the aldehyde-free Tannesco CPR liq can help to create snow-white or brilliantly dyed, washable and waterproof articles. IT  brings technical and environmental benefits when used in the retanning process. When applied in retanning, it provides a special firming and filling effect with a noticeable improvement in shade intensity and brilliance. When used in the remetalising of wet-blue instead of chromium, zirconium or aluminium sulphate, it results in a significant reduction in these often problematic metallic salts reaching the wastewater streams.

At the other end

In wet-end dyes, Sella Fast Black IG conc is for bluish-black shades. Due to its very good build-up behaviour on anionic substrates, Sella Fast Black IG conc is highly suitable for dyeing vegetable, free of chrome and synthetic/vegetable retanned leathers.

Sella Fast Black IG conc combines good penetration with good build-up and levelness; bluish-black shades can be achieved; and overall fastness properties meet standard market requirements.

Finishing: new additions to the aqueous pigment range for automotive leathers

The successful Roda Car P aqueous pigment range was launched in 2008 and now a couple of gaps in the assortment are filled by releasing:

RODA Car Off White P: a creamy-white pigment that is highly useful for matching off-white and beige shades

RODA Car Jet Black P: used to match very deep black shades (low CieL values), which cannot otherwise be easily achieved.

The RODA Car P range now comprises 20 pigments, fulfilling the market demand for aqueous pigments suitable for automatic dosing systems.
