On a year-on-year basis, the export of leather products during March 2013 increased by 44.7% against March 2012 while on a month-on-month basis the exports increased by 54.1% when compared to exports of February 2013, according to latest data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
The overall export of leather products between July 2012-March 2013 were recorded at $417.2 million against the exports of $408.1 million during July-March 2011-12.
The major increase of 8.5 million was in the exports of leather garments, which grew from $263.1 million last year to $285.5 million this year.
Exports of leather gloves, however, witnessed decrease of -7.2% by from $132.5 million to $123.0 million, the data revealed.
Exports of other leather products decreased from $12.6 million to $8.8 million, showing a fall of -30.4%.
Exports of leather products in March 2013 increased by 44.7% and 54.1% when compared to the exports of March 2011 and February 2013 respectively.
The leather exports in March 2013 were recorded at $48.8 million against the exports of $33.7 million in March 2012 and $31.7 million in February 2013 respectively.
Exports of leather garments increased to $102.14 million and $74.47 million when compared to the exports of March and February 2012 respectively.
However, exports of leather gloves decreased by 8.2% in March when compared to March 2012 while exports increased by 22.0% when compared to February.
Pakistan leather export rise
Exports from leather manufacturers in Pakistan increased by 2.2% during the first three quarters of the current fiscal year (2012-13) compared with the same period of last year.
