Italian tannery machinery and effluent treatment specialists, Italprogetti, have increased the capacity of their polypropylene retanning drum from 3.5 to 5.0 tons.

The new model has also been fitted with new interior draining grids and recycling system. The drum has an internal three-compartment structure, which allows less float to be used, increases the leather capacity and allows faster penetration of the process chemicals.

The three-compartment systems, known as Triplex, are also manufactured from polypropylene and are not attacked by peroxides used in the bleaching process. The drainage and recycling holes located within the drum are smoother and are less likely to get clogged up with waste materials during retanning.
