Invista, the largest integrated fibres and intermediates business in the world, have announced DuPont Teflon leather protector for washable leathers.
The new leather treatment protects washable leathers by preventing stains from penetrating hides upon contact.
Water and liquids either bead up and roll off or are easily blotted away – dirt can also be brushed off with ease. Washable leathers treated with the invisible leather protector retain their original colour even after washing.
‘As part of our commitment to innovation, Invista invents and improves products that serve as critical applications throughout the value chain’, said Lisa Pfrommer, leather business leader.
‘We are excited to deliver Teflon leather protector to the industry for use on washable leather goods. This revolutionary product will surely appeal to consumers by extending the life of and adding value to their leather goods.’
Teflon leather protector is applied to washable leathers at licensed tanneries where precise processes are followed to assure effective and even application of the protector to hides. Consumers can guarantee that their leather products have been treated with Teflon leather protector by looking for the Teflon hangtag.
Invista were formerly known as Dupont Textiles and are now part of Koch Industries. They take with them the Lycra trademark which can be used with leather and textiles.
The Teflon brand remains with Dupont but Invista have the exclusive licence for the application of Teflon to fabrics and leather.
Other Invista trademarks include: Stainmaster, Antron, Coolmax, Thermolite, Cordura, Supplex, Tactel.
