Following a successful start in March 2006, the next GLS – International Event for Leather Goods & More, taking place from 15 to 17 September 2006, will be introducing a new hall layout, an optimised visitor guidance system, an innovative design concept and a creative supplementary program. Messe Düsseldorf are further pursuing their goal of continuing to develop the GLS concept and to respond to the changing needs of the international leather goods markets. In order to ensure an even distribution of guests across all days of the event and to better tie the show into the international trade fair calendar, GLS will now take place concurrently with GDS, from Friday to Sunday.
The focus of the new hall layout is to meaningfully integrate the leather goods offerings at both GLS and GDS. In future, GLS will therefore occupy segmented areas in Halls 7.0, 9, 10, 11, 15, 16 and 17, in each case co-ordinated with the products being presented by GDS. In Hall 14, well-known labels from the Lifestyle & Sports sector, such as s. Oliver, Betty Barclay, Mexx and More & More, will be exhibiting their latest handbag and shoe collections. The GDS/GLS Fashion Shows will take place in Hall 7A.
Entrée to GLS is Hall 7.0. Here, international exhibitors from outside Europe will be showing high-quality fashion goods under the motto Best of the Global Best. Hall 7.0, which is directly connected to the Mall and thus with the main entrance area to the fair, will surprise guests with a striking new look. A guidance system in the form of a volute, a natural spiral form, will take the industry guests on a clearly defined path through all of Hall 7.0.
The newly conceived supplementary program made up of shows and other events will serve to further underscore the style symbiosis between GLS and GDS. A special highlight: the platform Design Attack will be presented jointly with GDS in Hall 13. This season’s theme, Mambo Italiano, will revive the Italy of the 1960s and 70s. The glamour, the parties and ‘the good life’ on the Italian Riviera still exert an irresistible fascination today, as does Federico Fellini’s free-spirited cult film La dolce Vita! Young designers and newcomers will present their creative ideas against a backdrop that recreates the typical ambience of those days.
