In comparison, industrial output in Croatia in the first quarter of this year was 10.9% lower year-on-year.
Croatia exported leather and leather products worth US$66.4 million in the first quarter of this year, a year-on-year decrease of 28.5%. Croatian leather and leather products imports in the first quarter of this year were 22.6% lower year-on-year at US$96.1 million.
Stocks of finished products held by leather and leather products’ manufacturers in Croatia in March were 0.4% lower than in February and 1.2% higher than in March 2008. In comparison, stocks of finished products held by manufacturers in Croatia in March were 0.9% lower month-on-month and 4.1% higher year-on-year.
Croatia’s Central Bureau of Statistics reports that there were 8,226 people employed in Croatia’s leather and leather products industries in March, compared with 8,349 in February.
The average gross monthly wage in Croatia’s leather industry in February was HRK3,442 (US$611), a month-on-month decrease of 4.8% and a year-on-year increase of 0.4%. In comparison, the average gross monthly wage in Croatia in February was US$1,349, a month-on-month decrease of 1.4% and a year-on-year increase of 3.5%.
