The new tannery extension, which will be fully completed by the end of the year, will double the Hafde’s capacity and includes the construction of a new footwear and leathergoods factory located onsite adjacent to the tannery.
When Leather International visited the tannery in mid January all the beamhouse and tanning drums (supplied by Italprogetti) were operational and construction of the retanning and finishing area was underway. The new extension also features a new overhead conveyor drying line with built in driers also supplied via Italprogetti.
In addition to the tannery extension Hafde are also constructing a new water tower to utilise water from an underground spring below the tannery.
