  • Celebrating a centenary of leather education

    The British School of Leather Technology (BSLT), part of the University of Northampton, celebrated 100 years of leather education with a host of events over the weekend of July 17-19. The centenary event culminated in a banquet and fashion show featuring leather outfits and accessories designed by university students. The centenary celebration, which took place in the lawns of the university’s Park Campus, was attended by 250 guests from around the world representing current and former BSLT students, the tanning, footwear, supplier and other industry related businesses.

  • DILF to showcase Indian leathers

    The 17th Delhi International Leather Fair (DILF) is set to take place at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, from October 23-25, 2009, and is organised by the Indian Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) and supported by a number leather and leather product associations and government and regional bodies.
    DILF 2008 included 133 exhibitors and covered an area of 2,100 sq m of exhibition space. From the 1,500 visitors, around 85 were from outside India. DILF showcases finished leather, leathergoods, footwear, garments and some upholstery leather.

    2009 marks the Centenary of The British School of Leather Technology and the Alumni team at The University of Northampton is busy working with colleagues to create a development plan that will set the scene for the next century of leather education in the UK.
