Oropon advanced bating from TFL

31 May 2005

During the past 15-20 years, the industry has witnessed significant changes in hide quality, preservation and customer demands. Cattle are being raised faster and the animals reach maturity at an earlier age, which leaves the collagen structure with less crosslinks making it more sensitive. The tanner is facing problems with looser grain and emptier flanks. However, today tanneries are under big cost pressure and, therefore, have to expand the usable area of the hide. Considering this development TFL have optimised their Oropon product range, to provide customers with a complete range for optimal bating. Technically, the improvements could be achieved in two ways: Through further optimisation of the pancreatic enzyme complex, which is now being used as a major component in Oropon bating products of the O series (OXX, OR, OO, ON2) as well as in the well known Oropon W. Also rhrough developing the new Oropon MM-range of bating products based on selective microbial proteases. These important advancements could be made without sacrificing the other well-known properties of Oropon bating agents like good cleanliness, inner softness and improvement of tear strength. The latest Innovation of TFL regarding the Oropon range is Oropon WT for bating wet-blue as well as wet-white. Oropon WT improves the yield: by relaxing the hide without making it loose, it increases the area yield without negatively affecting the cutting yield. It results in a shorter nap for corrected grain and split suede. Furthermore, the new range of TFL Oropon bating agents features the following advantages: it is adaptable for all types of hides and skins; optimisation of the usable area of the hide; available in low, medium and high activity concentrations for different batch sizes and leather types; ammonium-salt free products; speciality products for bating in the acid pH range (pickled skins, wet-blues); liquid products for automatic dosing; high operational safety and consistency.
