No Tanning Tech in 2006

20 March 2006

Assomac have announced that the edition of Tanning Tech due to be held in October 2006 has been postponed. The next edition of Tanning Tech will now be held in April 2007 over three days instead of the customary four and the event will run alongside Lineapelle and footwear machinery show SIMAC. Contrary to the rumours circulating at the last edition, the fair will remain in Bologna for the time being. At the 2006 edition of SIMAC, Chinese exhibitors will be admitted for the first time. A Chinese delegation has already reserved more than 200 sq m of exhibition space. SIMAC will take place as before from April 19-22, 2006, alongside Lineapelle in Bologna. SIMAC and Tanning Tech will be staged together in 2007, from April 11-14. According to Assomac, the economic world has been radically altered by globalisation and the international leather and footwear sector has been subjected to a fast-moving structural transformation that is now well-established and irreversible. This has caused them to reflect long and hard on the trade fair system that was and continues to be the driving force behind the market. As the organisers of the two most prestigious and important events for the sector's technology worldwide, Assomac Servizi feel they must be the first to launch a far-reaching analysis of the trade fair issue with a view to rationalizing and adapting it to the changed conditions of the international market: 'With a view to creating a new and more modern trade fair strategy, our organisation has decided to bring all the leather-related technology sectors under one roof. 'As a result, the first major decision has been taken with the involvement and approval of those concerned: Tanning Tech 2006 will be postponed by six months in order to give rise to a new trade fair event. One large event will be held in April 2007, bringing together the excellence of all the technology sectors related to footwear, leathergoods and tanning plus chemistry, of course, and it will flank the spring Lineapelle.'
