Kemia Tau launch finishing range

Italian leather chemical makers, Kemia Tau, who are headquartered near Turin, have introduced a new range of leather finishing products, dyes and pigments. Kemia Tau have traditionally been known as a supplier of wet-end products but decided to produce their own finishing range following requests from customers. The new line is known as Tau Finish and Solar Finish dyes and Solar Pigments.


Products in the Tau Finish product line are as follows:

PB is a preground polishable binder for use on full grain and natural leathers.

ST Filler can be used on buffed materials for upgrading. It can be applied by hand or spray.

WX, AK and OL are wax and oil auxiliaries to be used on classic leather articles, which require a waxy or oily finish.

HM, MX, AK and BI are a series of base coats and a binder to produce leather with a soft, natural look and touch. They can be applied to produce a light film either by spray or rollercoater. AK is an acrylic base coat and BI is a binder.

Kemia Tau have produced three products FX, CR and UR to help tanners create technical leathers, which require high performance properties. FX is a top coat, CR a crosslinker and UR a urethane binder that have been developed for use on leathers, which require high physical and mechanical properties yet the leather, maintains a natural feel and look.

In addition to the finishing chemicals they have also introduced a full range of dyes and pigments. Solar Finish dyes are available in 17 core shades are all NMP free. They have also introduced a range of finish colorants called Solar Pigments. They are available in 13 core shades.

Following a development period at tanneries in Italy and Poland since 2008 most of the Tau Finish range are now available worldwide. Kemia Tau say that their new range is based on high quality ingredients and that they are now able to provide chemicals for the whole leather making process.
