Greener tanning discussed at CleanTech

13 December 2001

Speakers and delegates from 15 countries attended the BLC-Leather Technology Centre's 'CleanTech 2001' seminar in November. The organisers selected a broad range of speakers featuring both theoretical and practical ways of reducing the environmental impact of leather making. The seminar was broken down into several topics, which were: effluent management, beamhouse and tanning developments, post tanning, market driven specifications and effluent treatment. Not only did the presentations run to time but also the overall quality of the information presented was very high. Speakers ranged from tanners, technical institutions, chemical and machinery supply houses, leather industry customers and BLC technical staff. The two day seminar took place at the Chesford Grange Hotel near Kenilworth. UK.
