Genis Antel to join Serpelsa

8 October 2010

The Spanish ovine leather tannery, Genis Antel are to become part of the Serpelsa group. The agreement, which was finalised in mid September, will mean that all of Genis Antel’s staff and administration will be taken into the Serpelsa portfolio. Genis Antel stopped their own wet-end production in Spain in 2006 and recently closed their finishing operations.

The agreement includes all of Genis Antel’s Spanish activities and excludes their operation in Brazil (Genis Antel Brazil). Both companies are located in the Catalan town of Vic.

Serpelsa have traditionally processed rabbit leathers but in recent years have expanded into ovine leathers and calfskin leathers following the integration of the Curtidos Codina name into the company in 2009.
