Eco Trends conference set for APLF
20 January 2010‘Eco Trends in Leather’ will be the topic explored during a half day conference at this year’s APLF in Hong Kong on March 30. Speakers from a range of international brands and organisations – including Nike, the National Wildlife Federation and PrimeAsia – will discuss a range of topical subjects including deforestation and traceability, benefits of the Leather Working Group, green chemicals and eco design, amongst others. The conference co-organised by BLC and APLF with Leather International magazine as a media partner.
The conference will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in conjunction with the APLF. Dr Victoria Addy, technical director, BLC who will also be speaking at the conference about the practical challenges of restricted substance compliance, says ‘With the increasing emphasis on responsible trading within the leather supply chain, an appreciation of the environmental impact of the leather making process and the lifecycle of leather products is becoming increasing important to all of our businesses. This seminar will provide an insight into the challenges currently facing the leather industry from an environmental perspective and importantly offer thought provoking commentary from leaders in their field on environmental best practice, sustainable processing and greener materials.’
